Today we ask Patrick, owner of Enlightened Lights, to introduce us to the company’s first custom dimmable LED Antique Brass fixture and the story behind its creation.
How did the design of this particular fitting come about?
We custom-designed this fixture specifically for this project. I was doing a walkthrough of Mark Kohler’s home (Mark is the owner of Kohlmark Construction). He was showing me the beautiful architecture of his home and the custom woodwork in the two main rooms of the house.
How did you decide on the right light source for the fitting?
For this particular fixture, I told Mark I would recommend lighting the ceiling to highlight the woodwork and provide soft indirect ambient light. Mark had a similar idea, but he could not find any nice fixtures.
What was the design process like?
I showed Mark our small LED flood light and he thought the fixture was perfect, but he needed one that was dimmable and 120v. That is when our team of engineers went to work. We used the technology from our exterior 12v LED and redesigned the driver to be dimmable at the main switch and then we configured it for 120v. The process was time-consuming, but the end result turned out better than we both imagined. We were able to use our solid antiqued cast brass fixture, which matched his interior accessories (such as doorknobs and other lighting fixtures). We were able to use such a compact fixture that it blends in perfectly with his beautiful ceiling.
Can you explain the dimmable feature?
Each light can go from 0-500 lumens and maxes out at only 5 watts of energy.
What else is unique about this fixture?
This fixture is unique to this project, and we are proud to have been able to custom tailor the perfect fixture to accent the gorgeous architecture of this Kohlmark home.
